Blog Posting - Sound

I recently learned how different sound types come together to form a more expressive and captivating scene, techniques used to create and produce sound are necessary to create a good piece of media. 

    For the first sound project, me and my assigned teammate had to come up with a story completely reliant on sound, meaning, there was no video. This was a somewhat challenging assignment due to the fact that I am not the best editor, and I'm used to working with the video itself, not the sound. The second sound project, I was required to revisit my editing project and add sound to it. This seemed easy at first, but then I realized that this was going to be harder because I would have to meticulously select and time all of my sound effects.

    My approach to the first sound project was very straight forward. I imported sounds I thought would come in handy, and I placed them somewhat off-putting at first, but me and my partner worked to organize it until it was seamless. While I was brainstorming, I was thinking about all the possible sounds that one would hear during a basketball game, which was my project. Furthermore, I had to foley some of my sounds which proved more difficult than just snaching sound away from a site, but it was rewarding due to the personalization of the sound and sound quality.

The outline was really useful when organizing my project because I didnt have to spend that much brainpower thinking about where each sound went. This allowed me and my partner to really focus on the editing and get it right. For the editing software, we used clipchamp since my teacher said it was a great app to be working on with sound.

    What I think I was decent at was foleying sound. It was not all that hard for me and it was super rewarding. This leads to a much more personalizing and accurate presantation. I would like to improve my editing skills because I think that they could be a lot better.
